Berga

If you enjoy nature and medieval architecture, this Catalan town is sure to take your breath away. Its periods of prosperity has given the old quarter such treasures as Església de Sant Joan, a church from the 13th century, or Església de Sant Quirze de Pedret, another church, which is accessed via a medieval bridge that remains in excellent condition. However, if you’re a little more adventurous the surrounding areas offer a large range of activities, such as hiking, cycling trails, climbing, and paragliding.

Girona

Northern Catalonia’s largest city, Girona is a web of cobbled streets and medieval walls surrounding museums, galleries and Gothic churches. Founded by the Romans, the city later was taken over by Moors and Franks before finally falling under the rule of Barcelona. Influenced by a multitude of different cultures and religions, the city beckons visitors by offering many opportunities to get lost and observe local life and culture.

Montserrat

Montserrat mountain is instantly recognisable, sculpted over centuries by wind and frost, having eroded various rock types. More than halfway up the mountain lies the Benedictine Monastery, one of Spain’s most revered icons. Montserrat (the name is often used interchangeably for the monastery and mountain) is a hugely popular day trip from Barcelona, inviting throngs with visitors, but serenity can still be found on the walking trails.

Tarragona

A city with thousands of years of civilization just waiting to be explored, with charming alleyways, historic monuments and locations from Roman, medieval and modern eras and a variety of fantastic places to eat provide the opportunity to explore the narrow streets in the attractive medieval centre, flanked by a towering cathedral with Romanesque and Gothic elements.

Zaragoza

Zaragoza sits on the banks of the Ebro River, enticing visitors with quiet streets around the Plaza de los Sitios, boutiques, markets and souvenir shops, as well as showing great examples of their varied architecture. Zaragoza is also known for offering food and drink for every budget and taste.
