There are many great things about visiting Budapest in Hungary: from a rich history, beautiful architecture, and great food, but it is also really easy to travel to other areas of the country. To help you make the most of your time, here are four easy day trips to take from Budapest.
4 Easy Day Trips to Take From Budapest
Szentendre
Just outside of Budapest, this town is full of churches, galleries, museums and cafes. Szentendre was settled by Serbians fleeing from the Turkish occupation in the 17th century. Because of the Serbian influence the town has the Mediterranean feel. As an art colony turned lucrative tourist centre, Szentendre strikes many travellers and attracts visitors most of the year. It is an easy train trip from the capital around 11miles away, and the town’s dozens of art museums, galleries and churches are well worth the trip. Just try to avoid visiting on weekends in summer.

Etyek
Etyek is a village approximately 19miles from Budapest, beautifully quaint with lush green hills, old stone homes, and population of only 4,000 people. It sits on the same latitude as the prestigiously-known Champagne region so the climate for good, crisp white and sparkling wines is equal to even the best bottles produced in France.

Flanked by northern Hungary’s most inviting range of hills, the Bükk, Eger also provides nearby opportunities for hiking and other outdoor excursions.
