Sophie’s Cookery School

The majority of classes are led by Sophie Grigson. However, the school also has a plethora of incredibly knowledgeable guest teachers who lead specialist classes and impart their knowledge of specific cuisines or particular areas of food. 

Classes are suitable from absolutely anyone, from beginner to confident cook, held in pop-up venues in and around Oxford, each class is 2.5-3 hours long. All ingredients and equipment are provided.

Participants all cook together then sit down to enjoy the food prepared, along with a glass of wine.

Raymond Blanc Cookery School

The courses are suitable for all experience levels. From half-day introductions to residential programmes, dinner party master classes to children’s courses, there’s something for everyone. Many courses focus on recipes showcasing dishes that inspired Raymond Blanc himself to become the Michelin-starred chef he is today.

Courses include tuition, tea and coffee and a certificate upon completion. Full day courses include and informal lunch.

The Jericho Kitchen Cookery School

All classes are very informal, relaxed and hands-on. You can get as involved as you like as the teachers are highly experienced and there to guide you throughout the lesson. There are no individual stations as you work around a central island or big table so although you won’t make every dish individually you will see everything that is going on!

Finally when everything is ready you will sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labour around the table and at this point your teacher will join you for any further questions that you may have.

A wide range of full day, half day and evening courses are available, perfect for any type of cook whether you’re a beginner looking to learn new skills or a confident cook looking for more inspiration.

During the courses you’ll work with fruit and vegetables straight from their organic Market Garden, celebrated organic cheeses as well as milk, cream and yogurts from their organic Creamery and artisan bread from their own organic Bakery. For the non-vegan or vegetarian courses, you’ll will work with a range of organic meat including everything from their native breeds of lamb and beef.

Oxford Brookes Restaurant Cookery School

These cookery school courses are designed to cater for all ranges of cooking ability, so whether you’re a novice or an experienced cook, you’ll leave with valuable culinary tips and advice. The team’s approach is to help you learn through a combination of demonstrative and hands-on practice to ensure you get the most out of your session. 

On the day, you’ll be provided with aprons and workbooks, and usually a light lunch served during or after the course.
