I’ve written a little about my idea of self care before but during a time where we are having to limit our contact with others and even the time we spend outside it can be difficult to know the best ways of looking after ourselves. If you are finding it hard spending so much time indoors then you may need to find some new self care tips as a way of dealing with  the current situation.

Whether your in self-isolation, social distancing or simply working from home looking after yourself is important. Finding things that get you motivated, keep you focused, look after your physical and mental health and generally make you happy will help get you through a difficult time.

My Self Care Tips During Lockdown

Watch a movie – not anything depressing, find one that’s uplifting and will make you smile at the end.

Say hello to a neighbour – you might actually learn their name and a time might come when you need to help each other out.

Plan a future trip – at some point in the future we’ll be able to start travelling, so have a trip in mind that you can look forward to

Create a Spotify Playlist – choose songs that make you smile and dance around your bedroom/kitchen/garden etc.

Declutter – once the charity shops reopen you can make some donations so that other people can enjoy the stuff you no longer have use for

Read a book based on a friends recommendation – ask a friend what their favourite book is and then read it, even if you don’t enjoy it as much you’ll have something different to talk about

Recommend a book to a friend – see previous point

Create a scrapbook of last year – last year must have been better than this one has been so far so remind yourself of some happier times

Limit your social media activity – constant bad news and unhelpful advice and opinions can take their toll after a while

Have a pamper session – use up those half opened bottles of shampoo and bubble bath and treat yourself so a homemade spa session

Improve your evening routine – sleep effects everything from your mental health to your physical health, so make yourself feel better by sleeping better

What self care tips do you have for this time?
